Vintage 1960 Hiram Walker Decanter, Empty, with Medallion

Description

From 1960, an empty 4/5-quart (1/5-gallon, or "Fifth") clear glass bourbon decanter, made by Owens-Illinois Glass for Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Peoria, Illinois.  It is in very good condition, with no cracks or scratches, and only a minor nick in the glass on one face (circled in Photo 6). The only other visible issues are the manufacturing shear marks on the decanter base and the top of the stopper, which seem to be common with these OI containers.
Embossed on the base: “Federal law forbids sale or re-use of this bottle," the Owens-Illinois (OI) logo, the designation D-23 (the Distiller Code Number for Hiram Walker), the number 65 (identifying the Owens Illinois Glass plant on North Shabbona Street in Streator, Illinois), the number 60 (year of manufacture), and the number 10 (possibly the glass mold number).
This decanter stands approximately 9-3/4 inches tall, including the stopper (7-3/8 inches tall without the stopper), measures 3-1/2 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches front-to-back, and weighs 1 pound 12 oz.  All four side panels are slightly concave, each panel with five vertical flutes (pattern also used on the stopper), as shown in the photos. The four corner edges of the bottle have a beveled appearance. According to a print ad found elsewhere on eBay ("1960 Walker's DeLuxe 8 Year Bourbon Whiskey Christmas Decanter Gift Set Print Ad") this decanter was "designed by Belgium's famed Cristalleries du Val-Saint-Lambert" to create an "uncommonly elegant gift" for Christmas, 1960.
This collectible decanter is in very nice condition, and clean inside and out.
