Vintage 1957 Walker's Deluxe "The Gold Crest" Decanter, Empty

Description

From 1957, an empty 4/5-quart capacity holiday decanter, made for bottling of Hiram Walker's Deluxe 7-year-old 86-proof straight bourbon whiskey at their Peoria, Illinois distillery.  This bottle is in very good condition, with no scratches, chips or cracks.  The shoulder collar is metal. It is intact, but there is residual adhesive on one panel where the tax stamp was applied.  The plastic cap has appearance problems on the top and one side, thanks to discoloration and old adhesive from the tax stamp.  Please look carefully at photos.
Embossed on the base of the bottle: “Federal law forbids sale or re-use of this bottle"; the numbers 65 and 57; the Owens-Illinois logo; the designation D23, and the number 7.  "65" is the Owens-Illinois Permit Number for its Streator, Illinois glass plant; "57" is the year of manufacture, "D23" is the distiller code for Hiram Walker & Sons, and "7" may be the bottle mold/cavity number in the OI bottle-making operation.
This decanter measures 12 inches tall with the closure, 11-5/8 inches tall without.   At its base, the container measures about 3-3/4 inches by 2-3/4 inches.  Weight is about 1 pound 10 ounces with the cap.  The cork is attached to the top inner surface of the cap, and appears to be in fair to good condition  (See Photo 8).  The decanter is clean inside and out.
This 64-year-old container is described in the print ad as The Gold Crest Decanter.  (The print ad shown in Photo 12 is not part of the sale, but is included only to show product appearance for the 1957 holiday market.
