1814 Handsome English Georgian Regency Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl and CreamerPresented is a handsome English Georgian sterling silver sugar bowl and creamer
set. These two pieces are dated 1814 and were made by Samuel Hennell and John
Terry. The pieces are made in a classical Regency style, with bold gadroon
decoration around the lower half of the body and matching gadrooning along the
rim, and prominent acanthus scroll flourishes at each corner. The handles have a
reed and ribbon type of design. Each piece stands on four ball form feet. Both
pieces have a monogram of B in flowing script.
These pieces are in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no
breaks, no monograms, and no repairs.
Each piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling
silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the maker's mark for
Samuel Hennell and John Terry. the date letter T for 1814, and the duty mark of
King George III's head in profile.
The sugar bowl measures about 9 inches from handle to handle and about 3
inches at the rim (4 1/8 inches at the top of the handle). The creamer measures
about 3 1/2 inches tall at the handle and about 7 1/2 inches from handle to
spout.
The total weight of both pieces is 635 grams or 22.4 regular ounces.
